 Hello Families,

This week in Science we have been learning about how we measure hot and cold temperatures. We discussed how to use a thermometer and how to accurately read one to collect data. During our community walk students had the opportunity to use a thermometer to measure temperatures in the school, outside in the sunlight, in a snow bank, in a puddle and other locations to compare and contrast how the temperature changes.

I can record observations using pictures words and charts.

I can make predictions and generalizations based on observations.

This week in math with Ms. Yasin, students used all their addition knowledge and mental math strategies to solve addition word problems. Students reviewed parts of a word problem and key words to help identify which operation is required. The group ended the week practicing writing story problems using a given a picture or answer. Then everyone had fun writing their own unique word problems to share with each other.
In literacy groups this week, the Flat Stanley novel group got to go on their own adventure around the school with their little Flat students! Just like Flat Stanley, the group took an in depth tour of Ramsay School and explored some interesting spots! Some notable areas were the printer room, and the door leading from the staff room to the gym (which we do not use)!
