 Hello families,

This week our class had the opportunity to participate in a frisbee workshop! We learned lots of tricks and techniques, with the overall theme of the workshop being that in order to get really good at something, you have to fail many times.

In Science, we have begun testing designs and materials. We conducted a fair test to see which shape is the strongest and able to hold the most mass- an arch shape or square shape?

Ms. Yasin's math group spent their time counting and adding money this week! Students showed their understanding of Canadian money by using the correct vocabulary for coins. The class focused on representing a value of cents in multiple ways! Students were then challenged to show these sums using a particular amount of coins, for example "Show me 45 cents using only 3 coins"! Students further applied their learning to real life situations that involve counting money and seeing if a person has enough money for a given cost of an object. A helpful hint from the lessons is to look at the picture on a coin to determine what its value is!

Notes:

-Our field trip to the Calgary Zoo is upcoming on June 1st! If you would like to volunteer please email Mr. Jackson.

-If you have any empty cardboard cereal boxes, We are looking to collect them for an upcoming project in Math. If you could bring any to school that would be fantastic!
